Impact Talk: The neurobiology of trauma: The power of relationships to heal

Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 12:30 PM until 1:30 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

Decades of research have established that traumatic experiences can potentially impact our physical and mental well-being in detrimental ways. However, with an understanding of some basic principles of neurobiology and development, we can see how our relational connections have the power to buffer us against these negative impacts. This session will explore the connection between trauma, the brain, and relationships and consider the 'why' behind commonly recommended strategies for nervous system regulation and self-soothing.

You're invited to join the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences for the first of several Impact Talks with Dr. Jennifer A. King, co-director of the Center on Trauma and Adversity and assistant professor on Wednesday, April 6, from 12:30–1:30 p.m. EST.

Join in-person at the Mandel School Lobby, Noble Commons, 11235 Bellflower Road, Cleveland, OH 44106 or online with the registration below.
