Impact Talk: Nothing for us without us: Building authentic community relationships for social change

Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 12:30 PM until 1:30 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

Why is it that so many projects led by popular civic leaders and institutions so often face pushback, objections, and protests from the community? Oftentimes, the answer is a lack of authentic community engagement with the people most affected, which leads to a loss of trust in leaders and institutions. This session will explore principles and practices of authentic community engagement with case examples from restorative justice, international peacebuilding, community development and organizational change.

You're invited to join the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences for the fourth of several Impact Talks with Dr. Mark Chupp, founding director of the Community Innovation Network, co-director of the Social Justice Institute, chair of the Concentration in Community Practice for Social Change and associate professor on Wednesday, April 13, from 12:30–1:30 p.m. EST.

Join in-person at the Mandel School Lobby, Noble Commons, 11235 Bellflower Road, Cleveland, OH 44106 or online with the registration below.
